What would be the best way to get the maximum gains from exercise, performing these individually, or doing these in combination? Read on, and let's find out together.

For centuries, Yoga has been done by people wanting to achieve optimum physical fitness and spiritual balance. It is an activity with such compelling force because of its complete methodology towards synchronizing mind and body, coupled with particular concentration on breathing styles.

The monks in olden times practiced Yoga to acquire physical discipline and spiritual balance. Modern practice of Yoga is not much different in its objectives. In these era where people's extreme pressure from work and coping with the social, professional, economic demands of living today, Yoga has been proven to be beneficial for mental/emotional and physical relaxation. Yoga has been experienced by urbanites to help them reduce and cope with the stresses in their lives, while keeping physically fit.

In the last century, Weights Training, a forceful exercise, was developed. Its focus is on muscle toning, removing excess fat, coming up with a more fit body. Enrollees in weights training classes go to be and feel physically fit.

Now there would be people who would want toned muscles, shed off unwanted fat and at the same time get spiritual/emotional balance. Would blending these two types of exercises be feasible and grant the same results?

This isn't actually something new in the United States. In the late 1940s, Yoga was combined with weights training. There was a weights trainer who successfully integrated yoga poses with the use of weights. What he did was use Yoga breathing exercises with weight lifting routines.

His practice developed a new Yoga style, which became known as Weight Yoga.

When yoga postures are done in conjunction with the use of weights, our bodies are directed not just to breathing, stretching and physical development but to a general wellness. This new type has upgraded traditional Yoga and basic weights training; a practitioner acquires both force and harmony.

How are these two types of exercises done? Usually, first-timers have 1 to 5-pound weights fastened to their wrists and ankles. Although these don't seem too heavy, these provide enough challenge for a beginner. Your body will be forced to work harder because of the focus on power in addition to the stretching. After a mere several minutes, you will begin to feel a change.

Success in this integrated exercise doesn't come in just days or even weeks. But once you get the hang of this combination, you will be more comfortable and be able to perform it better and gain more strength. This integration assures utmost gains for your body. Your body itself will be able to tell the changes.

If you haven't done Yoga yet, you would have to take some classes to be familiar with the postures and sequences. When you feel you're ready for a challenge, you can go into weights yoga. As you are getting into it, your body gets to be more fit and powerful.

Just remember that it's the same with all forms of exercises - you must be consistent in your performance to receive the optimum effects. Your body progresses from weak to strong, unwell to healthy steadily. It's a continuing process which you must not rush. Within a month of dedicated performance, you will feel and see that you've changed for the better, physically, emotionally and mentally.

You can then easily rebut any objections to combining yoga and weights training. It is the best combination for a physically challenging work out and holistic transformation.

One of the finest health websites I have found is Kamloops Yoga, which is an extraordinary mix of yoga and exercise.
